O’Connells in Donnybrook - New Catalonian Charcoal Grill
Date: August 28th, 2010

Tom travelled to Barcelona with Lorcan Cribbin to try out, first-hand the much 'talked-about' Josper Charcoal Grill. We spent a hectic 26 hours in the city taking us from Marcato Santa Catarina, north, south, east and west, tasting the results with Catalonian Chefs in their kitchens. Happy to report that our Grill is on the way - Tom insisted on a Red Door ... causing a little delay ... but we are assured ready in Dublin in good time for our opening.

If you're planning your travel itinerary the GF Fish & Chips in Mespil Row, Dublin 2 only take place on Saturday and Sundays. They are really lovely!
If O'Connell's restaurant is open in its' new premises by then in Donnybrook, Dublin, they are excellent: http://www.oconnellsdonnybrook.com/ . Roly's Bistro in Ballsbridge is also supposed to be good for GF food: www.rolysbistro.ie and is beside the American Embassy too!
I've heard the Bay Tree Restaurant in Kildare are good for GF, haven't yet been: http://www.thebaytree.ie/

Thank you for making Mum’s 70th Birthday so special
Date: November 2nd, 2009
Hi Tom,
I just wanted to let you know how delighted we were with the way things went on Friday night. Everyone had a wonderful time and the food was effusively complimented by all. The room looked magnificent and Eamon Monaghan on the piano really added to a wonderful atmosphere. I must particularly compliment you and your team for taking everything, from last minute cancellations by several of our party to the presence of a table of younger diners, in your stride. We were very well looked after in a charming and good humoured fashion by the whole team and things could not have been better.
Mum was thrilled and that is largely down to you all.
Many thanks once again,
Eleanor
Georgina Campbell’s Ireland Guide’s Just Ask Restaurant of the Month October 2009
Date: October 15th, 2009
“Just Ask!” is a public awareness campaign that aims to encourage consumers when eating out to look for information on where the food (particularly meat) on their plate comes from, and encourages chefs to provide this information on their menus. The programme supports both large and smaller artisan suppliers, encouraging both Irish diners and visitors from abroad to support restaurants that are in turn supporting their suppliers.
O'Connells Ballsbridge is October, 2009's Just Ask Restaurant of the Month.
